Constant traffic and backlinks to your website through social media‽

21. June 2011 Posted by Jimmy Sigenstrøm

Link building and creating constant traffic to your website, blog / shop is not normally something you can do at the same time. But you can actually do both things at once, thus saving time.
It can be done on more than one way, where the best way to do it are with facebook, twitter, stumple etc. where you can link to your own pages and blog posts as a result of that creating backlinks but also traffic.
Take for example, Twitter, here you have the opportunity to link one or more of your keywords to your tweets. A keyword can be anything from SEO, linbuilding, to baby clothes and baby names.

Such a tweet might look like this.
WebIQ Google Pagerank checker, checker your backlinks and indexed pages checker PageRank http://t.co/4XstkpV #seo #link building #pagerank

It can alos be about a discount on an item in your webshop, giving you this platform to advertise your offer in this way. This can also lead to large number of followers, which again will give you a platform that could spread the word about you.!

Taking the example from before is #seo #link building and #pagerank the keywords that are relevant to this particular webpage. In other words, all you have to do is to put “#” in front of the keyword you want.
If we again use “PageRank” as a starting point, and do a search on Twitter, then the result will be a large number of tweets were “PageRank” is the keyword.

With this search you will also find other users who have the same interests as you, these users will perform the same search thus finding you and your website, blog / shop. This will can therefore give you a source for constant traffic as long as you active on twitter. The amount of traffic that will naturally reflect your niche.!

But there is another opportunity to reach far more users, you can do this by swapping tweets with the ones you follow and those who follow you.
This means that you do it as you would do with link exchange, you type a tweet that the other user posts on his or her account, in return you post on on yours.

Another advantage of Twitter is that you don’t even have to do all the work yourself, by adding a simple Twitter button for your website, blog / shop, you can get your users to share your page with all those who follow that user.
As a result sharing your page even further, thus creating a constant traffic to your page.
So the question must ultimately be can you afford not to use social media‽

What are natural link building

31. May 2011 Posted by Jimmy Sigenstrøm

I´m going out on a limb with this post, but I feel there is need for the question.!

I have been reading a lot of blog post and comments on what natural link building is, and what is considered natural link building.
The commen belive is that you can´t get to many new backlinks in a short time, you can´t only use link directories for link building, that you can´t use paid links or get to much traffic because your site might get sandboxed by Google.

But and there is a lot of buts in this question.

For example my new theme at WordPress has here after 72 hours produced a 1000 pages with this text “Theme by W3blog”, in other words it´s new backlinks. They are of cause not all registered in my google webmaster tool yet, but i assume that is only a matter of time. If it was true that a lot of new backlinks alone could get your site sandboxed, this would mean that all theme designers sites should be in the sandbox. But they are not.!

Let´s take the “to much traffic” answer.
Here I have a site we can use as an example.
My danish currency rates site was launched last year in april(week 19 – 2010), and it went from 33 hits in the first week to 8459 hits in week 39. That´s about an increase of 25000% in 20 weeks, here again to much traffic should get my site in the sandbox. And again it´s not.!

But what do we know.?

We know that Google has stated that paid links, that has the sole reason to manipulation of search results are a a violation of the rules.!
But Google also stated that

Not all paid links violate our guidelines. Buying and selling links is a normal part of the economy of the web when done for advertising purposes, and not for manipulation of search results. Links purchased for advertising should be designated as such. This can be done in several ways, such as adding a rel=”nofollow” attribute to the <a> tag

We also know that only adding your links to link directories is not a good way to go, but then again only adding your links to a social bookmark such as Twitter isn´t any good either.

Whichbrings us to the core of the question, then what is natural link building.?

Imho I believe that natural link building, is to spread your links on everything such as twitter, facebook, websites, forums, blogs, news sites, other social bookmarks. But do it your self don´t use any spammy software, don´t pay for links if it´s to manipulate the search results. And don´t be afraid of an increase in traffic or a lot of new backlinks, if it´s because of a natural thing such as viral post, new theme, good article and so on.

So a high increase in traffic or 1000 new backlinks, is not enough to get your site sandboxed if there is a reason for it.!

what´s your opinion on natural link building.??

There are many myths about Google Page Rank and it´s significance.

15. May 2011 Posted by Jimmy Sigenstrøm

The most widespread myth is that Page Rank is a quality stamp of your website, blog, shop and so on in Google’s eyes, that is, the higher the PageRank the better your page and content is and the more it is worth.

This is not accurate, which on the other hand unfortunately also means that many are using the different pagerank checker in the wrong way, therefore not having the right basis for further search engine optimization of their website. This ultimately may very well mean that you have spent a lot of time and perhaps money, on something that does not have the result that was the goal.

So let’s once and for all make it clear what Google’s PageRank is and what significance it has.

PageRank evaluates on two things:
On how many links there are to a web page from other pages, and on the quality the sites linking to your website. In other words, the content of your website is completely irrelevant compared to the PR your site gets. So that means if you have a high PageRank, are the pages that links to your quality sites, thus helping to raise the value to your page but not your pagerank.

It therefore means that the number of your backlinks is not the only thing that is relevant, you need to keep assessing the value of the link you get. In other words, a link from a page with great value, is better than a link from multiple pages with a small value. In other words, links from sites like http://www.bbc.com and http://www.nbc.com are better than links from http://www.Peters-hotdogstand.com.
Which is also stated by Matt Cutts.

But how do you find these pages that have a great value, and where you can get backlinks from.
After my personal experience, are these following things something you can do to find them.!

1: If Google indexes the pages quickly, in other words, how often does Google go through the website. You can see it by checking the Google cache content of a given page, take for example the latest blog entry and check it against the Google cache: http://www.dommain.com/blogtitle. If it was indexed 14 days after it´s written, then are the value is not that great.

2: The number of backlinks to the given page, it can be done using a backlink checker.

3: Number of indexed pages from the website, ie how many of the pages on the website are indexed, for example in Google. The more pages are indexed the higher its value. (Indexed page checker )

4: Look at the websites pagerank if it has a high PageRank and therefore has quality backlinks. One must assume that the page also has some value, but not necessarily equivalent to it´s PR.

This is also where the myth of the page’s value is the same as happened PR, and it is easy to see why it happened.
It also means that we can clear up one more of the many other SEO myths, such as the myth that a link directory or / and an article database has no value. They just like all other websites that has different values, so you have to make the same checks as with any other websites to check whether it is worthwhile to create a link / article on that page. If the website a low number of pages indexed below, then is the value is not very high.!
